Silent Cinema Galway
A winner of The Great Irish Hospitality Award 2024, Silent Cinema Galway is a unique silent cinema studio run by Adam Scheffler, offering audiences an authentic experience of silent films as they were originally enjoyed back in the days. Located in a cozy setting, the films are accompanied by live, improvised piano music, often featuring original themes. As one of the pianists-in-residency, Mila performs regurarly at the cinema, where she also have had the privilege of playing for special events screening Buster Keaton’s Sherlock Jr. at Clifden Arts Festival and The General at Pálás Cinema with a trio.
O Pint Diário
A digital magazine dedicated to traditional Irish music, created for Portuguese-speakers. The project has been run by Mila Maia, Leonardo Ramos, Paula Camacho and Gustavo Lobão since 2021, all based in Galway City, Ireland. The magazine offers articles, interviews, introduces new releases, and recommends albums and artists, making Irish music more accessible and engaging to people that want to know more about it.
Baile An Salsa
Baile An Salsa brings together an international mix of world-class musicians to deliver a distinctive blend of Latin rhythms and traditional Irish Music – a fusion which they call “Salsa-Trad.” The musicians seamlessly blend their influences from Latin America, Europe and the United States to create a contemporary twist of traditional tunes with original compositions. Vocals in English, Spanish and Irish, provided by the band’s founder, Andres Martorell, meld with the group’s vibrant combination of instruments, creating a full, rich sound that is fun and danceable.
Choro Collaborations
Since arriving in Ireland, Mila has dedicated herself sharing the beauty of choro - an expressive genre rooted in Brazilian traditional music, still very alive today. Over the years, she had the privilege of collaborating with talented musicians and ensembles, including Galway Choro Ensemble, Music Matters, Treo Ensemble, Javi Campos, Kevin Shortall, Paula Camacho, Gustavo Lobão and Erick Sabino, hosting sessions at Bierhaus Galway and performing at events like Culture Night Galway, Midsummer’s Eve Festival and The Dublin Jazz Co-op.
